Welcome to the distinguished Recoleta district! At the appointed hour, we will gather at the plazoleta Carlos Pellegrini to commence our exploration of this remarkable area.
Throughout our journey, we will delve into the architectural marvels as well as the captivating history that established it as the foremost neighborhood in Buenos Aires, often referred to as the "new Paris." You will learn about the aristocratic class of Buenos Aires and the motivations for constructing its grand edifices. As we traverse Alvear Avenue, the locations of the French and Brazilian Embassies will serve as prime examples of the French architectural influence within the city.
Our narrative will also include insights into the work of French landscape architect Carlos Thays as we pass the block of three palaces, each showcasing unique artistic styles, leading us to the opulent Hotel Alvear, which stands as a testament to the luxury experienced by renowned guests throughout history. We will then visit the Pilar Church and the renowned Recoleta Cemetery, the resting place of significant figures in Argentine history. Following this, we will stroll through Plaza Francia to reach the esteemed Law Faculty of the UBA, emblematic of the pursuit of knowledge in the city.
From the faculty bridge, participants will enjoy a stunning panorama of the Floralis Genérica, the magnificent metal sculpture that symbolizes the spirit of innovation in Buenos Aires.
