Details of the Market Tour
We will gather at the scheduled time outside the Franciscan Museum of Monseñor Fray José María Bottaro, located at Calle Adolfo Alsina, 380, directly in front of the Basilica of Saint Francis.
From this meeting point, we will proceed to the San Telmo Market. Since its inception in 1897, this venue has served as a key gathering place for both locals and visitors to Buenos Aires.
Our journey begins with a stroll along Calle de la Defensa, one of the oldest streets in the city. As we walk, we’ll delve into Buenos Aires' rich history, making a brief stop at the Manuel Belgrano mausoleum. Following this, we will make our way to the well-known Mafalda Statue, where you can capture a photo with this beloved character.
Ultimately, we will reach our primary destination: the esteemed San Telmo Market. Upon entering this historic site, you'll find yourself amidst vibrant market stalls showcasing an array of local goods. In addition to delicious foods like meats, fruits, and fresh vegetables, there will be sections dedicated to antiques, books, and vintage cameras.
As we wander through the market, we will pause at one of the most famous stalls. This eatery is known for its specialty, the Choripán, a chorizo sausage sandwich that is a beloved dish in the Southern Cone of South America. Here, you'll enjoy a taste of this scrumptious snack along with an empanada and a glass of wine. What a delightful experience!
Next, we will visit a traditional stall renowned for its delectable 'dulce de leche', the quintessential Argentinian sweet treat. Here, you will indulge in an authentic Argentinian alfajor, complemented by a surprise gift to conclude our tour on a sweet note.
