Activity Overview

We will convene at Lance Ferris Wharf at the designated time. From there, we'll board a boat and set off into the waters of the Cape Byron Marine Park. Are you ready for this incredible journey?

As we navigate the coastline, soak in breathtaking views while searching for the magnificent humpback whales migrating between Ballina and Byron Bay. These incredible mammals embark on annual treks that can span up to 10,000 kilometres (6,213 miles). Throughout our voyage, we'll provide fascinating insights into the lives of these ocean giants and the remarkable odyssey they undertake.

With our advanced gear, you will have the chance to listen to the whales' songs through an underwater hydrophone, offering a truly unforgettable experience!

Additionally, if fortune smiles upon us, we may also spot dolphins, seabirds, and other marine life inhabiting this protected area.

After a delightful 2-hour excursion, we will return to our departure point, concluding this memorable whale-watching adventure.

Observing Humpback Whales

Cape Byron serves as a prime location for viewing humpback whales. However, wildlife can be unpredictable. The likelihood of sighting whales and their numbers can vary due to numerous factors, including weather conditions and the breeding cycles of different whale species.

From June 1 to October 31, if you do not encounter any whales during your initial tour, you are welcome to enjoy a complimentary second tour at no additional cost.
