Join us on this hiking adventure through the Vettón Forest of Cabezabellosa, as we explore the trails once trodden by the ancestors of the Iberian Peninsula prior to Roman influence.

Hike Overview

Our journey begins at 11 am at the designated spot along the Carretera de Cabezabellosa. This hike takes us through an area in Cáceres recognized as a Special Area of Conservation.

Nestled between the Sierra de Gredos and the Jerte Valley, this stunning oak forest is where the Vettones first settled within the landscape. As we navigate the trails of the Vettón Forest of Cabezabellosa, we'll encounter the remnants of a pre-Roman settlement rich in Celtic heritage that once thrived on the western Iberian Peninsula.

As we traverse this captivating landscape, we'll gain insights into how the local resources were utilized while walking amidst the oaks. The sounds of birds serenading will accompany us as we take in the enchanting views over northern Cáceres, Jerte Valley, and Ambroz Valley.

We anticipate completing our hike and returning to the meeting spot around 1 pm.
