Description
Discover the charming villages along the Costa de la Luz on this day excursion to Tarifa, Zahara de los Atunes, and the ancient site of Baelo Claudia from Cadiz.
Tarifa & Baelo Claudia Exploration
Following your pickup in Cadiz, our journey will take us to the stunning coastline known as the Costa del Atún, recognized as one of Cadiz province's most picturesque maritime regions.
Your first destination will be the Baelo Claudia archaeological site, located adjacent to Bolonia Beach. This settlement was once renowned for its production of garum, the cherished sauce of the Romans. Take the opportunity to learn about its production process and explore the ruins of the site, including the impressive theatre, forum, and various temples.
Our next stop is Tarifa, often referred to as the southernmost city in Western Europe. Here, enjoy a brief walking tour through the city's Old Town, nestled along the banks of the Gibraltar Strait. Don't miss highlights such as the St. Matthew the Apostle Parish and the Castle of Guzmán el Bueno, steeped in local legends.
After the walking tour, you will have approximately 1.5 to 2 hours free to savor lunch at a local eatery. Be sure to indulge in the regional specialties, especially dishes featuring fresh tuna!
Finally, we will proceed to Zahara de los Atunes, an exquisite village where we’ll take time to explore its ancient wall remnants and enjoy the beautiful beach. Did you know it's ranked among the finest beaches in Andalusia? Remember to capture some memorable photos!
Your adventure will conclude upon returning to the starting point in Cadiz, with a total duration of about 8 hours.
