Highlights of Egypt: 8-Day Comprehensive Tour

Day 1: Arrival in Cairo

Upon your arrival, representatives will greet you at Cairo airport to assist with your visa and navigate the immigration procedures. Afterward, we will transport you to your accommodation and enjoy a meal at a local establishment in the evening. Should your flight land after 9 PM, a cold picnic will be prepared for you at the hotel.

Day 2: Giza, Memphis, & Cairo

Following breakfast, we'll explore the iconic pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx; those feeling adventurous can venture inside, navigating the ancient traps created to deter robbers. After this exciting experience, we will visit a papyrus workshop to discover the artistry behind this renowned Egyptian artifact. A traditional lunch will recharge us before continuing to Memphis, the first capital of Egypt, followed by a visit to Saqqara and the remarkable statue of Ramses II.

Later, after a brief rest at the hotel, we will venture to Old Cairo, wandering through its oldest streets, browsing the vibrant Khan el Khalili market, and savoring a traditional dinner at the historic Café of Mirrors.

Day 3: Cairo

On the third day, we will uncover the city's most significant downtown landmarks. Highlights include the Citadel, the Alabaster Mosque, and a lively trip through the Khan el Khalili market, while enjoying the masterful exhibits at the Grand Egyptian Museum, home to over 500,000 artifacts. A local restaurant will serve as our dining location for the evening.

Day 4: Cairo - Luxor

After a hearty breakfast, we will head to the airport for a flight to Luxor, once known as Thebes, where our Nile cruise will begin. At this incredible site, we will visit the Luxor Temple, arguably the highlight of our journey, followed by a charming ride around the city center in a horse-drawn carriage. After this, we will check into our hotel and relax until the next day.

Day 5: Luxor - Edfu

In the early hours, we will visit the Karnak Temple, connected to Luxor Temple by the grand Avenue of the Sphinxes, which is nearly two miles long adorned with sphinxes. Our adventure then takes us to the Valley of the Kings on the East Bank of the Nile, where the tombs of renowned pharaohs are located (entrance to Tutankhamun's tomb incurs an additional fee of 16 EUR). We'll also see the Hatshepsut Temple and the monumental Colossi of Memnon.

Afterward, we will return to the boat for a scenic cruise southward along the Nile, arriving at Edfu in the evening to enjoy the stunning views around the floodgates of Esna.

Day 6: Edfu - Kom Ombo - Aswan

We will kick off the day with a visit to the Temple of Edfu, dedicated to Horus, the sky god. This temple is renowned for its impressive preservation. Continuing our journey, we will sail towards Kom Ombo.

Upon arrival, we will tour the temple dedicated to the gods Sobek and Horus, known for its picturesque setting. We'll conclude the day by sailing onward to Aswan.

Note: The visit to Edfu involves a buggy ride for transport. If you prefer another mode of transportation, please inform the guide a day prior, noting that alternative transport incurs a fee of 15 EUR per person.

Day 7: Aswan - Abu Simbel - Aswan

Our day begins with a bus trip to the magnificent Temples of Abu Simbel, the most renowned in Egypt, which were saved from the inundation of the Nile through a remarkable international initiative. On the journey back to Aswan, we'll also see the Aswan Dam, a significant 20th-century engineering achievement.

In Aswan, we will visit the Temple of Philae, located on a beautiful island often referred to as the Jewel of the Nile, enjoying lunch back on the cruise ship afterward. Following our meal, we will sail the waters in a Felucca (a traditional wooden vessel) along the Nile, returning to the ship by 4 PM to unwind for the night. You will have the evening free to explore the area at your leisure before retiring for the night.

Day 8: Aswan - Cairo

After breakfast, we will transport you to Aswan airport for your return flight to Cairo. Upon arrival, you are free to make connections to your next flight.

We will adjust your departure time from Aswan based on your flight schedule from Cairo. For early flights, we will leave Aswan earlier, providing a continental breakfast or packed meal. If your flight is later in the day, a breakfast onboard the boat will be arranged before heading to the airport.

Essential Information

While the order of activities is flexible and may change, all listed experiences will be included. Depending on your arrival date, you might start with Cairo before the cruise or in reverse.

What Do I Need?

To participate in this tour, you only require a round-trip flight from Cairo. Arrive on the designated day and return a week later. For instance, if you arrive on a Monday, you should fly back the following Monday.

Pricing Information

• The listed price is per person in a double room or cabin. Solo travelers will incur an individual surcharge.
• Bookings for three guests will be allocated a double room with an additional bed. If the third person requires a separate room, a single supplement will apply.
• Rooms accommodating four people are not available, but groups can request adjoining rooms (subject to availability). Please note this during the booking process.
