Poruña Volcano Private Hiking Tour
Description
Prepare for an exceptional private trekking experience at the Poruña Volcano, an enchanting crater located in the Chilean Andes, recognized as the smallest volcano in South America.
Tour Highlights
Your journey will commence with a pick-up from your Calama hotel at 8:30 am, setting the scene for an exhilarating day filled with exploration.
Enjoy a picturesque drive lasting about an hour and fifteen minutes until we arrive at the trailhead of the Poruña Volcano. Let’s begin this exciting venture!
Upon nearing the volcano, we'll start our engaging climb to the summit. After approximately one hour of hiking, we will reach the peak, standing at around 3,625 meters (8,610 feet) above sea level, thereby designating the Poruña as the smallest volcano worldwide, as well as in South America! It rises merely about 150 meters (500 feet), akin to a 60-story structure, offering a distinctive view.
At the summit, immerse yourself in the stunning panoramic vistas. Marvel at the grand San Pedro and San Pablo volcanoes, along with an 8-kilometer (5-mile) expanse of hardened lava. An intriguing detail: the Poruña is thought to be a side feature of the San Pedro volcano!
After this refreshing hike, we will begin our descent, which will take roughly one hour. Once we return to the base, we will board the vehicle for your trip back to Calama, concluding this memorable experience by 4 pm.
