Description

At the designated time, we'll collect you from your accommodation in Cancún and travel towards the San Bernardino de Siena convent, located in Valladolid. Are you ready to discover the traditions of the Day of the Dead?

Our first stop will be this historic 16th-century convent, one of the most ancient colonial sites in Yucatán. We will share insights about its significance during Maya times and its evolution following the Spanish conquest.

Once we conclude our visit, we'll proceed to a nearby Maya village, where the Day of the Dead celebration will come alive in an enchanting cenote. Recognized as a UNESCO intangible cultural heritage, this festivity reflects a blend of indigenous cultures and Christian beliefs. You'll gain a comprehensive understanding of these enriching traditions!

You will first delve into ancient Maya body painting, a revered method for commemorating the deceased. Following this, enjoy a taste of tequila, a beloved local spirit that is sure to delight your palate!

As night descends upon the sacred cenote, the barriers between the living and the deceased dissolve. Our guide will illuminate fascinating details about the Day of the Dead ceremony. We'll engage in an offering to honor our ancestors and discuss the significance of such rituals on this meaningful date, fostering a profound spiritual connection.

To conclude this memorable experience, savor a delightful buffet featuring tacos and other traditional Maya specialties—a perfect way to wrap up the evening!

After approximately 10 to 11 hours, we will return to your hotel, marking the end of this extraordinary journey.
