Our journey kicks off at the agreed meeting point, located at the entrance of the Huerto Ribera, a grove established in the 1800s. Here, we will delve into the intricate process behind the cultivation of premium oranges.
The tour will start with a glimpse into the expansive warehouse and a stroll through the lush fields filled with age-old orange trees and a multitude of vibrant flowers. The fragrance of orange blossoms will be a delight to your senses!
We will uncover the traditional farming techniques while discussing how modern innovations have been seamlessly integrated into the agricultural practices. Are you aware of the numerous citrus fruit varieties? From Sanguinelli to citrus yuzu, mano de buda, citrus caviar, calamondin, and kumquats, you will learn about the unique qualities that set them apart.
Additionally, observe the functioning of irrigation systems, pruning processes, and grafting techniques. Participate in a fun competition where the top performer will receive a certificate as a certified farmer. Experience the duties of a farmworker firsthand by engaging in an activity where you can personally harvest up to 1.5 kilos of oranges or tangerines.
After spending 2 hours and 30 minutes exploring the grove, we will indulge in a tasting session of artisanal fruit-flavored liqueurs—a delightful treat!
