Carcassonne Castle & Ramparts Tickets
Description
The fortress and walls of Carcassonne represent one of the most well-preserved medieval strongholds across Europe. By booking your ticket, you will delve into the captivating history of this remarkable site.
Reasons to Explore Carcassonne Castle
This legendary and formidable fortress of Carcassonne witnessed intense battles between the French and Aragonese, who vied for dominance in this key region during the Middle Ages.
Your ticket grants you access to the Romanesque Chapel of the Bastion, the Machicolations—galleries used historically for dropping objects onto attackers—and the Barbican, a protective entryway situated above the moat.
Additionally, your entry includes the ramparts of the citadel. You can leisurely wander along the encircling walls of the medieval city, discovering its various towers and battlements. The elevated vantage points also provide stunning views of the Aude river valley.
From the ramparts, you’ll be able to appreciate the charming historic center of Carcassonne, showcasing the graceful Saint-Nazaire basilica and the impressive Narbonne Gate.
