We will commence our adventure at the Carrara train station, where participants will gather at the selected time. From there, we will embark on a jeep ride towards the Carrara Marble Quarries, recognized as the most renowned marble quarry globally.

Our robust jeep will take us to the highest elevations of the quarries, which rise to an impressive 3,280 feet (1,000 meters) above sea level. Upon arrival, we will delve into the history of Carrara marble extraction that dates back to the Roman Empire, exploring both ancient and contemporary techniques employed in its quarrying.

We will also uncover the reasons why Michelangelo Buonarroti esteemed Carrara marble for his iconic sculptures. A highlight of the tour includes a visit to the very quarry where Michelangelo selected the marble blocks for his masterpieces, including the renowned David.

Post our quarry exploration, we will return to the city. En route, there will be a stop at a lardo factory to sample Lardo di Colonatta, a distinguished variety of Italian sausage celebrated across the country.
