Castillo de la Concepción and Panoramic Lift
Description
Description
Experience breathtaking vistas of Cartagena and its bustling port by ascending via the panoramic elevator to the Castillo de la Concepción. This ticket also grants you access to explore the fortress itself!
From its establishment in the 13th century, the Castillo de la Concepción has been a silent witness to the rich history of this Mediterranean city. Originally built as a medieval stronghold under the reign of Alfonso X, it stands as a testament to Cartagena's significance during the 18th century, having served as a vital defense point over the centuries.
Rising to a height of 45 meters, the panoramic lift offers visitors an exceptional perspective of Cartagena and the strategically important port, which has played a crucial role for the Spanish Navy. The summit of the Concepción peak, where an ancient temple dedicated to the god Aesculapius once stood, provides an unmatched view. From the enclosed glass cabin, guests can gaze upon significant landmarks such as the Roman amphitheatre, the bullring, and the Hospital de Marina.
Upon reaching the top, you will enter the fortress and visit the Interpretation Centre. Here, you can engage with the historical significance of the Castillo de la Concepción while observing preserved architectural features, including old cisterns and capitals.
Panoramic Lift Ticket
If you prefer not to explore the interior of the fortress and the Interpretation Centre, you may opt for just the ticket to the panoramic lift, which will take you to the viewpoint for an incredible look at Cartagena and its iconic monuments. Access to the lift is located on Gisbert Street.
