Valley of the Temples & Scala dei Turchi Day Trip
Description
Discover the stunning Valley of the Temples along with the impressive Scala dei Turchi on this immersive day trip, where history and natural beauty come together.
Details of the Day Trip
At the agreed time, we will collect you from your accommodation in Catania to initiate our adventure to the Valley of the Temples and the notable Scala dei Turchi. Prepare yourself to uncover two remarkable Sicilian attractions.
As we travel by minibus, our guides will provide you with intriguing insights about the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento. Upon our arrival, you will have the freedom to explore this remarkable site at your leisure. The Temple of Concordia, among its seven well-preserved temples, is particularly significant, helping this location achieve its status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
In close proximity, you’ll also find ruins of other temples dedicated to deities such as Juno, Hercules, Hephaestus, and Athena. Following your exploration, we will pause for lunch at the bar at the Archeological Museum of Pietro Griffo, conveniently situated within the archaeological grounds. You can enjoy a menu featuring local sandwiches, complementary water, and local wine.
Subsequently, our journey continues to the maginificient Scala dei Turchi, a breathtaking white limestone formation that rises from the turquoise waters of the Ionian Sea, resembling a grand staircase.
During your visit, you’ll discover the composition of marl, which contributes to the unique color of this natural marvel, as well as captivating tales regarding the origin of this iconic location's name. Afterward, you will have the opportunity to wander the area freely.
To wrap up our adventure, we will return to Catania and drop you off at your accommodation after an enriching day lasting approximately 9-9.5 hours.
