Copahue Volcano Hike
Description
Embark on an exhilarating journey to the summit of Copahue Volcano, where you will ascend to one of the most significant and active craters in the Andes. This experience promises to be unforgettable!
Hike Overview
Are you ready to explore one of the key volcanoes in the Andes? Our adventure begins with your pickup from your accommodation in Caviahue. We will then navigate rugged terrain in an off-road vehicle until we arrive at the starting point of the Copahue Volcano hike.
Upon arrival, we’ll lace up our hiking boots, take our trekking poles, and embark on the initial segment of our ascent. During the hike, keep an eye out for the fumaroles emitting steam from this perpetually active crater. Notably, this volcano has been recognized as the most active in the Andean region for many years.
As we progress to the second hiking phase, we'll discuss its significance and the interest Copahue Volcano garners from research institutions in both Chile and Argentina. Before long, we’ll enter the third and final stage of our trek. In the El Arenal section, we’ll don our hard hats and push onward to the summit. We’re almost at the peak!
As we approach the top, the surrounding peaks and the distinct scent of sulfur will signal our arrival at the lagoon in the crater. Here, you’ll be granted 30 minutes of leisure to savor your accomplishment, relax, and enjoy a warm beverage.
Once you’ve taken in this magnificent view, we will begin our descent. After a rewarding day, we’ll return to our off-road vehicle for the ride back to Caviahue, where we will part ways at your hotel after approximately 8 hours.
