Excursion to Yanahuanca, Huarautambo, Astobamba & Villo

Your adventure begins with a pick-up at 9 am from your hotel in Cerro de Pasco, setting the stage for a full-day exploration of the essential attractions in the central plateau of Peru.

Our first destination is the charming town of Yanahuanca, as we embark on a scenic two-hour drive through the picturesque Chaupihuaranga Valley. Upon arrival, we will visit the main square, where the colonial-style Church of San Pedro stands proudly, and stroll along the town’s main streets.

Next, our journey continues to the adjacent Inca archaeological site of Huarautambo. Here, we will delve into historical structures such as the Inca Wasi, or the Palace of the Inca, as well as the Phaqcha, an ancient ceremonial altar.

Crossing its stone portico, renowned for being part of the famous Inca Trail that links significant sites across Peru, we will visit the stunning waterfalls within the archaeological grounds. Subsequently, we will trek to the nearby Astobamba, accessible via a traditional Inca bridge. This site showcases the Wari culture's reverence for water, featuring fountains, aqueducts, and bridges dating back to pre-Incan times.

After exploring Astobamba, you will have some free time for lunch. Following the break, we will head towards the ancient thermal baths of Villo. Here, you will discover the healing properties of its volcanic medicinal waters, rich in minerals such as sulfur, iron, and silicon. Enjoy the rejuvenating experience firsthand.

Our excursion will conclude with a return journey to Cerro de Pasco, with an anticipated arrival at your hotel by 6 pm.
