Explore the detailed itineraries below:
Huancas & Sonche Canyon (3.5 Hours)
Your journey begins with a hotel pick-up at your chosen time, followed by a drive to Huancas, located just under 10 kilometers (6.2 miles) north of Chachapoyas. We will arrive at the Sonche Canyon viewpoint, where you can take in the stunning aerial views of the Amazonian Andes' dramatic landscapes.
In the quaint village of Huancas, you'll have the chance to learn about the ancient skills of its renowned female artisans, whose pottery is recognized as a cultural treasure of Peru. On our return journey to Chachapoyas, we'll pause at the Luya Urco viewpoint—an excellent opportunity for photographs. After enjoying this scenic overlook, we will visit the Ethnohistoric Religious Museum of Santa Ana, providing a glimpse into the region's 16th-century architecture.
We'll complete the tour with a visit to the Santa Isabel orchid nursery, situated at the southern edge of the city. After about 3.5 hours of exploration, we will return you to your accommodation in Chachapoyas.
Schedule: This tour operates at 8:30 am and 2:30 pm.
Kuelap Fortress (9 Hours)
Your adventure will start with pick-up from your hotel, after which we will head south to Nuevo Tingo for a cable car ride to the Kuelap archaeological site. Here, you will spend around 6 hours delving into the intriguing pre-Incan circular structures that trace back to the 5th century AD. Following your exploration, lunch will be served at a local restaurant, and by the end of the 9 hours, we will return you to your accommodation in Chachapoyas.
Schedule: This excursion commences at 8:20 am.
Gocta Waterfall (9 Hours)
Beginning with a hotel pick-up, we will then travel north to the village of Cocachimba. Upon arrival, a 2-hour hike will take us through trails rich with the diverse flora and fauna of the Peruvian jungle.
Our destination will be the breathtaking Gocta Waterfall (referred to locally as "La Chorrera"), where you can witness the majestic water cascade from a height of 771 meters.
To conclude this excursion and replenish your energy, we will enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, featuring a starter, main dish, and beverage. After a day of excitement, we will return you to your hotel in Chachapoyas, concluding approximately 9 hours later.
Schedule: This activity departs at 8:20 am.
Cavernas de Quiocta & Sarcofagos de Karajia (10.5 Hours)
Your journey will begin with a pick-up from your accommodation, then we will proceed northeast towards Lamud. As we travel, we will go through the charming villages of Cochechan and Cruz Pata, leading to a 30-minute walk to the Karajia Sarcophagi. This intriguing site is home to pre-Incan sculptures that contain the mummified remains of individuals from the 15th century.
At midday, we’ll enjoy a delicious lunch in Lamud, which will include a starter, main course, and drink. Refreshed, we will then venture to the Quiocta Caves, where you can explore archaeological remnants of pre-Incan burial sites and discovery of cave paintings related to the Chachapoyan civilization. After this full day of discovery, we’ll take you back to your hotels in Chachapoyas after approximately 10.5 hours.
Schedule: This tour begins at 7:50 am.
Revash & Leymebamba Mausoleums (10 Hours)
Your adventure starts with a hotel pick-up before heading south to Santo Tomás. From there, we'll engage in a 45-minute trek to the Revash archaeological complex. The Revash mausoleums, known locally as chullpas, are collective tombs carved into a rocky cliff face overlooking a ravine, designed in the likeness of ancient homes from the Chachapoyas culture.
Next, we will journey to Leymebamba to visit the Mallqui Museum. Before entering the museum, we’ll stop at a local restaurant for a traditional lunch. Once at the museum, you can marvel at over 200 mummies. After a fulfilling day of exploration, we will return you to your hotels in Chachapoyas, completing the journey in 10 hours.
