Evening Excursion to Chiang Mai's Temples

On the designated day, our team will collect you from your accommodation in Chiang Mai, setting the stage for a journey through the city's most captivating temples.

We will commence our adventure with a 40-minute drive towards Doi Suthep, a mountain that holds deep cultural and spiritual significance. This sacred site is home to the renowned Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, an iconic temple attracting numerous pilgrims. Here, you will marvel at the magnificent golden stupa, which can be accessed by either ascending the intricately designed Naga staircase with 306 steps or opting for the convenience of the cable car. The serpent-like sculptures lining the staircase are a compelling and memorable aspect of the temple.

Upon reaching the summit, you'll encounter a sculpture of a white elephant, which signifies the legend that led to the temple's construction. According to tradition, the elephant ascended the mountain, trumpeted thrice, and then succumbed to death, interpreted as a prophetic sign regarding the temple's location.

As you wander around the temple grounds, we will share insights into its profound history and architectural features. The observation point provides breathtaking vistas of Chiang Mai and its picturesque surroundings, so be sure to capture this beautiful moment!

Next, we will proceed on a 30-minute drive to our second site, Wat Umong Suan Puthatham, nestled at the base of the Doi Suthep mountain range. Enveloped in lush foliage, this temple is recognized as the only forest temple in the region.

Dating back 700 years, this temple showcases its intriguing ancient tunnels and sizable chedi, both of which invite exploration. You will also discover proverbs in both Thai and English displayed on the trees lining the pathways that lead to a tranquil pond populated with fish, turtles, and ducks. Additionally, this site features a library-museum filled with a variety of books on Buddhism and other philosophies, along with a collection of historical artifacts and Buddhist artwork.

As our excursion draws to a close, we'll transport you back to the original meeting point, concluding an enriching 4-hour journey.
