Embark on a fascinating journey to the era of the Lambayeque civilization with our meticulously planned day excursion to Batán Grande. Here, you will explore a remarkable archaeological site nestled within the Pómac Forest, alongside a visit to the Sicán National Museum.

Day Trip to Batán Grande & Sicán National Museum

Your adventure begins with a pickup from your hotel at 8 am. From there, we'll board a comfortable minibus and set our course toward Batán Grande, an archaeological haven boasting twenty truncated pyramids.

Upon arrival, we will marvel at the impressive Huaca del Oro pyramid, which reaches an impressive height of 115 feet (35 meters). This site has revealed the remains of a descendant of the Lord of Sicán during its excavations. Framed by the vibrant Pómac Forest, Batán Grande is not only rich in history but also a sanctuary for various bird species, featuring a carob tree that has thrived for over 400 years.

A focal point of our exploration is the Huaca la Ventana. Originally attributed to the Chimú culture, it has been recognized as a creation of the Lambayeques. Although some valuable artifacts discovered there were lost, the wall murals depicting ocean scenes have thankfully been preserved.

During our return journey, we will stop at the Sicán National Museum. Here, you will gain insight into the daily life experienced by the Sicán people, observing their craftsmanship in both ceramics and metals, as well as exploring the tombs that contain the remains of nobility.

As our enriching visit concludes, we will depart from Batán Grande and head back to your hotel in Chiclayo, with an estimated drop-off time of 1 pm. We look forward to seeing you again!
