Tour Overview
At your preferred time, we will collect you from your accommodation to commence an engaging private tour of Ciudad Rodrigo, known as the second-largest municipality in Salamanca. During this excursion, you will have the freedom to select which landmarks to explore or specific areas within the city that pique your interest.
A great starting point for our guided exploration is the Plaza Mayor square. The vibrant ambiance created by the terraces is beautifully enhanced by the architectural splendor of buildings like the Ciudad Rodrigo Town Hall, a true gem of Castilian Renaissance architecture. After admiring its facade, we'll meander through the town's historic center, recognized as a Historic-Artistic Site since 1944.
One of the iconic landmarks of Ciudad Rodrigo is the Cathedral of Santa María. Along with the Old Cathedral of Salamanca, the Cathedral of Zamora, and the Collegiate Church of Toro, they constitute the renowned "Salamanca group", representing a unique architectural style. If desired, you may explore the interior of the cathedral, though please note that entrance fees are not included in the tour price.
Our journey will take us next to the notable boar statue, a pre-Roman sculpture reminiscent of the famed Toros de Guisando. Lastly, we will visit the formidable fortress of Ciudad Rodrigo— the castle of Enrique II of Castile. Be sure to capture these moments with your camera!
We will conclude the tour after approximately 2 to 2.5 hours, depending on whether you chose to visit the cathedral.
