Trip to Tarata, Cliza & La Angostura Lake
We will meet at 10 am at Plaza de Colón in Cochabamba and begin our journey towards Tarata, which is situated around 50 minutes away.
During our two and a half hours in Tarata, we will wander through its picturesque streets and squares, absorbing the town's rich history as we pass by significant landmarks, including the San Pedro church, the Town Hall, and others. A highlight will be the intriguing Melgarejo Bridge, uniquely positioned on a street. You will discover the story behind its unusual placement!
We will take a break to savor a traditional meal, featuring a main dish paired with the local beverage, chicha de maíz. After our meal, we’ll continue our exploration by visiting the Tarata market before boarding the minibus again.
Next, we will travel to the carob forest of Tiataco, located just 15 minutes away. Upon arrival, we will embark on a brief 35-minute hike through the trees, where we’ll gain further insight into the Andean culture. Additionally, we will make a short visit to the village of Tiataco before heading to Cliza on the minibus.
The journey continues at the Cliza farmer's market as well as the central square of the town. Noteworthy is the clock tower, part of the Nuestra Señora del Carmen church, which stands as one of the oldest structures in the area.
We will then proceed to enjoy the breathtaking views at the Angostura lagoon—a perfect backdrop for memorable photos!
