Day Trip Overview

At the designated time, our team will collect you from your accommodation and we will embark on a discovering journey through Fuerteventura. Are you set for a day filled with history and gastronomy? Let’s begin!

Our initial destination will be an aloe vera plantation, where we will devote 30 minutes to exploring the significance of this plant, which has been cultivated on the island for centuries as a healing gem by the indigenous inhabitants. It's fascinating to note that Majorero aloe continues to be utilized in cosmetic and health products due to its remarkable purity.

Continuing on, we will arrive at La Entallada Lighthouse, an architectural marvel in neo-Moorish style located on a dramatic bluff. For the next 20 minutes, we will take in breathtaking views of the Atlantic in its raw beauty, alongside the distinctive design of this iconic structure.

Our journey will then take us to a quaint artisan cheese factory. Here, we will spend 45 minutes discovering the craft of making the celebrated Majorero cheese, complete with a tasting session. You will observe how the milk from the indigenous Majorera goat is transformed through curdling, hand-molding, pressing, and finally, the addition of paprika or gofio. It's a captivating and detailed process!

We will then make our way to Ajuy, dedicating 40 minutes to investigate the charm of its fishing village and the awe-inspiring volcanic caves, which tell the story of a submarine geological history. As we walk over ancient layers of rock that were once beneath the ocean, you might spot fossils trapped within the stone. Imagine standing on some of the earliest formations in the Canary Islands!

Afterwards, a brief stop at the Risco de las Peñas viewpoint will allow us to soak in the rich symbolism and stunning vistas. Soon after, we will reach Betancuria, the once-proud capital of the island. You will have 45 minutes to wander through the Norman-style buildings and historic churches, with the option to savor some traditional local dishes at your leisure.

To conclude our journey, we'll head to the Majorero Cheese Museum in Antigua, where we will spend 45 minutes uncovering the deeper significance of this cheese beyond simply being a culinary delight. Set within a repurposed old oil mill, the museum seamlessly combines traditional architecture with contemporary exhibit areas that aim to preserve this cherished legacy.

In the end, we will escort you back to your hotel, marking the conclusion of a 6.5 hour tour full of discovery.
