Day Trip Overview

Upon collection from your accommodation in Cusco at the scheduled time, we will set off on an adventure into the heart of the Andean region. After approximately an hour's drive, we will reach Chinchero, a charming village that appears untouched by time.

Here, we will have the opportunity to meet a local family dedicated to preserving traditional Andean textile arts. You will gain insights into the profound significance of the weaving patterns, the natural dyes they use, and the age-old methods of spinning and weaving that have been passed down through generations.

Next, we will embark on a 30-minute drive to Moray, a remarkable Inca archaeological site renowned for its large, circular terraces that resemble an ancient amphitheater.

Did you know that the Incas utilized Moray as an agricultural testing ground? Its diverse microclimates enabled them to experiment with a variety of crops at different elevations. You will also have the chance to discover the intricate irrigation system that facilitated this remarkable agricultural innovation, showcasing Inca engineering prowess!

Our final destination will be the renowned Maras Salt Mines, situated about an hour from Moray. This extensive array of salt pans, comprising over a thousand pools, presents a landscape unlike any other, where salt extraction has been practiced since pre-Inca times.

As we stroll through the terraces, you will learn about the traditional salt evaporation and harvesting techniques still in use today. To conclude our adventure, we will return to Cusco and conclude our journey near the Plaza de Armas, following a full experience of 5 to 6 hours of exploration.
