Hike Overview

We'll meet you at your hotel at the scheduled time and embark towards the charming town of Pachar, nestled in the Sacred Valley. There, you'll savor a delicious American breakfast  to kick off our day with vigor.

Following our meal, we'll head toward the village of Cachiccata, located near Ollantaytambo. From this point, we'll initiate our hike to Inti Punku, the famed Gate of the Sun within the Sacred Valley. Are you prepared for a distinctive experience through the Peruvian Andes?

Our ascent will take approximately 2.5 hours, where you'll be rewarded with splendid panoramas of the Sacred Valley of the Incas and towering mountains. The ancient trail, once traversed by the Incas, reveals landscapes of agricultural terraces, old quarries, and the majestic Veronica mountain, which appears to watch over the path.

Upon reaching the peak at 1,279 ft (3,900 m) above sea level, you will encounter a remarkable stone arch —believed by Andean tradition to have served as both an astronomical observatory and a ceremonial portal, bridging the earthly and celestial realms. From this vantage point, you'll enjoy breathtaking views of Machu Picchu, the enigmatic city of the Incas—an experience that is sure to captivate you!

Take the time to rest and explore this magnificent site, capturing photos of the winding Vilcanota River and the expansive Sacred Valley. A light snack will also be provided to rejuvenate you as you absorb the incredible scenery.

After our break, we'll start our descent toward Ollantaytambo, one of the most iconic towns in the Sacred Valley. En route, we will visit the Incan quarries of Ollantaytambo, where materials for some of the region's most significant temples and structures were quarried and moved using techniques that continue to astonish archeologists.

Following our exploration, we’ll make our way back to Urubamba and subsequently to Cusco, where we will conclude our adventure at your hotel approximately 8.5 to 10 hours after the pick-up.
