Pucará Bulls Cusco Gilded Workshop (2 hours)
This artisan workshop begins with a concise introduction to regional art, highlighting the blend of Andean and European influences. It will provide context on the history of ceramics in this region of Peru, from its early beginnings to its cultural importance. Are you curious about the Pucará bull? Considered a symbol of safety and prosperity, its associated legends will be shared during the session!
Participants will receive a Pucará bull along with all necessary materials to start their creative journey. You will have the opportunity to work like true artisans with the renowned Cusco colonial gilding technique, utilizing bronze, copper, and aluminum sheets.
Upon completion of the workshop, you can bring your Pucará bull home. These bulls are traditionally placed on rooftops for protection!
Cusco Glazed Ceramics and Gilding Workshop (3 hours)
For those seeking a more comprehensive experience, the workshop on glazed ceramics and Cusco gilding is the perfect choice!
Initially, you will meet with the local artists from Totemiq, a collective focused on preserving Peruvian folk art. They will share insights into the production of glazed ceramics and the renowned Cusco gilding, along with various interesting details about Cusco’s artisan products.
Following the introductory discussions, we will move on to the practical side, applying what we’ve learned by shaping ceramic pieces and mastering glazing and painting techniques.
