Machu Picchu & Machu Picchu Mountain Day Trip

Tour Overview

On the day of your adventure, our team will collect you from your hotel in Cusco between 4:00 and 4:30 am, after which we will head towards the Ollantaytambo station. Our train to Machu Picchu will depart promptly at 5:40 am.

Your one and a half hour train experience will mark an extraordinary beginning to the day, traveling on one of the world's most scenic railways. Witness the stunning Andean terrains as you enjoy panoramic vistas through the train's glass roof.

Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, located at the base of Machu Picchu, we will take a bus that ascends the hill to the archaeological marvel. Here, your guide will direct you to the entry for Machu Picchu Mountain, towering at over 3000 meters. You will have the opportunity to trek up to 300 meters to take in breathtaking views of the historic Inca citadel. Be sure to bring your camera!

Following your ascent, we will regroup for a guided exploration of the Machu Picchu ruins. Our journey through this ancient metropolis will last for two and a half hours, where you'll tread the paths of the Incas, including a visit to the House of the Guardians, the tallest building within Machu Picchu.

At the conclusion of the tour, we will descend by bus back to Aguas Calientes, where you can enjoy some leisure time to dine at one of the local restaurants or explore the town's craft market.

Afterward, you will board your train for the return journey, arriving back at your hotel in Cusco at approximately 9 pm.

Sightseeing Train

Your trip to Machu Picchu will involve a sightseeing train (either Expedition or Voyager).

Pickup Information

Pickup will occur from 4:00 to 4:30 am at hotels within the historic district of Cusco. If your accommodation is outside this area, please meet us at the entrance of the Cathedral in Plaza de Armas.

Stations & Duration

Trains to and from Cusco will depart from either Poroy station (30 minutes from Cusco) or Ollantaytambo station (1 hour and 30 minutes from Cusco), based on availability. During the rainy season (December to March), the Poroy station will be closed, requiring a bus transfer to Ollantaytambo. You will receive an email confirming your pickup time and the designated station once your booking is complete.

The transfer times may vary depending on your departure station. The trip from Poroy to Aguas Calientes takes roughly 4 hours, whereas traveling from Ollantaytambo takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes.

Important Information

If the tour is canceled due to strikes or adverse weather conditions, we will provide an alternative date to complete the excursion. If rescheduling is not viable, you will receive a full refund, less the admission fees to Machu Picchu (approximately 200 PEN), which are non-refundable.

Should you wish to hire a guide as an additional service, our local team will inform you on-site regarding payment arrangements based on the number of participants and required languages.

Day Trip to Machu Picchu

Please keep in mind that tickets for Machu Picchu Mountain tend to sell out well in advance (over a month typically). If there is no availability for your chosen date, consider booking the Day Trip to Machu Picchu.
