Your adventure begins at 9 am when we pick you up from your hotel. We will embark on a bus journey heading towards the northern areas of Dakar. After approximately an hour of travel, we will follow the route famously used during the Paris-Dakar Rally.

Upon arrival at Lac Rose, prepare to be captivated by the enchanting pink hue of the water. After disembarking, we will transition into a 4x4 vehicle to navigate the captivating landscapes surrounding this stunning site. The saltwater lake is bordered by a slender strip of sand dunes that separates it from the Atlantic Ocean.

During our ATV excursion, you will observe local residents utilizing traditional methods to harvest salt from the lake. Learn how people from across West Africa rely on this salt production, and discover the reasons behind the lake's unique pink color, which is due to a salt concentration that is ten times greater than that of ocean water.

Following the abundant summer rains of 2024, the lake has collected a significant amount of water, resulting in the loss of its distinct coloration. Salt extraction efforts have resumed, alongside the recreational activities offered at the lake, but the iconic pink hue has yet to return, and its future remains uncertain.
