The Biosphere Reserve of Hurulu is a sanctuary teeming with diverse wildlife, including an impressive array of birds, turtles, and predominantly, Asian elephants. Embark on this extraordinary safari journey from Dambulla to immerse yourself in the unique fauna of Sri Lanka.

Hurulu Eco Park Safari

Your adventure begins with a pickup from your hotel in Dambulla at 1:30 p.m., followed by a scenic ride in a minibus to the stunning Hurulu Eco Park, one of Sri Lanka's premier natural reserves.

Given the extensive size of the park, we will navigate on a 4x4 safari vehicle to ensure a comprehensive exploration. Throughout this expedition, you will marvel at the park's rich biodiversity, spotting a variety of exquisite bird species such as parrots, hawks, and peacocks. Look out for giant tortoises and, with some luck, catch a glimpse of the elusive Sri Lankan leopards, the pride of the park.

After a brief lunch break (please remember to bring your picnic), we will resume our safari, venturing to one of Hurulu's most remarkable regions, where herds of Asian elephants reside. Much like humans, these majestic creatures exhibit unique behaviors that you will observe firsthand during the tour.

We will also stop at the Hurulu Wewa reservoir, a vital watering spot for numerous birds. Many come from afar, traveling great distances to quench their thirst!

The safari will conclude at the entrance of the ecological park, where we will board the minibus once more and head back to Dambulla, arriving at your hotel around 6:30 p.m.
