Acaiá Cave & Ilha Grande Lagoons Boat Tour
Description
While visiting Ilha Grande, take advantage of the chance to embark on a tour of the Acaiá Cave and its stunning lagoons. Prepare to be captivated by the enchanting scenery!
Tour Overview
Our adventure begins at Rua Santana, where a boat awaits to take us towards the southwest part of Ilha Grande and head to the Alcaiá Cave. Let’s set sail!
Our first destination is Lagoa Azul, an essential stop for visitors in the area. This lagoon boasts clear, shallow waters teeming with tiny fish. Interestingly, it is named after its resemblance to Port Antonio in Jamaica, the filming location of the famous movie The Blue Lagoon. Here, in this tranquil oasis recognized as one of the 7 wonders of Ilha Grande, you can unwind while escaping the city's buzz.
Next, we will explore the Acaiá Cave, measuring around 30 m (98 ft) in width and 1 m (3.2 ft) in height. Accessing this natural wonder requires descending about 10 m (32 ft) through narrow openings. Are you prepared to witness this natural marvel?
Beneath the surface, at a depth of 8 m (26 ft) below sea level, you will find a fissure allowing water to flow into an underground chamber, forming a stone beach within the cave. The interplay of sunlight on the water creates a stunning display of fluorescence. Amidst the cave’s shadows, a captivating turquoise-green mist shimmers and glitters like countless diamonds.
Our journey proceeds to Lagoa Verde, known for its emerald waters accompanied by a sandy and stony beach. It’s the habitat of the Abudefduf fish and various other marine species, making it a perfect spot for snorkeling!
In conclusion, we will make our way back to the initial meeting point, wrapping up the tour after roughly 7 hours of exploration.
