Arica Day Trip
The adventure begins at 8 am when you will be picked up from your hotel in Tacna for a bus ride to Arica. Following a scenic two-hour journey, we will engage in a guided walking tour of this iconic Chilean port city, renowned for boasting some of the finest surfing beaches.
Our initial destination will be the San Marcos Cathedral, an architectural masterpiece crafted from metal and wood in 1876 by the French architect Gustave Eiffel, who is also known for the Eiffel Tower. Your knowledgeable guide will share intriguing insights about this place of worship, including its fascinating origins, as it was prefabricated in Paris and transported to Chile.
Proceeding from there, we’ll explore the House of Culture and Casa Bolognesi, two historically significant structures intertwined with the events of the Pacific War.
As we make our way through the city, we will pass numerous key landmarks, including the 21st May promenade. Here, you will have thirty minutes of leisure time to grab lunch and stroll along this emblematic street.
Our journey continues as we ascend to the heights of Morro de Arica, the city's most remarkable feature. This vantage point offers breathtaking panoramas of Arica and its coastline, while you also discover the stories behind the Christ of Peace and the Arms Museum.
Next, we will visit some of Arica's stunning beaches, including Lizera, Laucho, and Chinchorro. You will have one hour to either relax in the sun or take a refreshing swim in the ocean.
To conclude our day, we will return to Tacna, arriving back to your hotel by approximately 4:30 pm.
