Bike Tour Through Basilicata's Parks
The journey begins at 8:30 am in Piazza Piano della Corte, located in the vibrant center of Castelsaraceno. Here, you'll don your helmet and hop on an electric bike, setting off on a delightful 40-kilometer ride (approximately 25 miles) through picturesque landscapes.
As you travel, you'll navigate a combination of paved and unpaved trails, surrounded by the rich greenery that defines the heart of Basilicata.
While cycling through the expansive Appennino Lucano-Val d'Agri-Lagonegrese National Park, expect to be captivated by breathtaking vistas brimming with regional flora. You'll also learn fascinating insights into the diverse wildlife that inhabits this area, including noteworthy residents like wild boars and wolves.
Keep an eye on the horizon for Mount Raparo, an impressive peak that reaches a height of 1,761 meters (over 5,700 feet), providing an awe-inspiring backdrop throughout your ride.
Your exploration will then take you into Pollino National Park, recognized as the last Italian stronghold of the Balkan pine. As you glide along the park's paths, you’ll encounter several of these unique trees that also grow in countries such as Bulgaria, North Macedonia, and Greece, ensuring fresh air and a vibrant atmosphere.
Following a day filled with stunning sights and invigorating cycling, the tour will conclude at 2:30 pm back at the original meeting point.
