Boat Ride + Hiking in Cape Froward

Embark on a remarkable boat journey across the Strait of Magellan towards Cape Froward, the southernmost tip of the American continent. During this excursion, we will also trek to the famous Cross of the Seas.

At the arranged time, a pickup from your hotel in Punta Arenas will commence our travel towards the Punta Arbol pier. This marks the start of our boat journey through the legendary Strait of Magellan, the natural waterway connecting the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean.

As we navigate these waters, prepare to be mesmerized by stunning landscapes. The boat provides an excellent viewpoint to appreciate the verdant Magellanic forests, the majestic Andean peaks, and the enchanting fjords. Highlights of our journey include sights of Mount Tarn, the San Isidro lighthouse, as well as the picturesque bays of El Águila, El Indio, San Nicolás, and Rosas.

Continuing our southern path will bring us near Mount Sarmiento. If the weather cooperates, we might spot local wildlife like southern dolphins and sea lions, indicating our proximity to Cape Froward. Curious about the origins of its name? If weather permits, we will venture ashore to explore this, otherwise, we will maintain our course on the water.

Upon our arrival at Cape Froward, we will undertake a one-hour hike that takes us to the Cross of the Seas, one of the most southerly crucifixes globally. The breathtaking views from this spot are simply extraordinary, allowing glimpses into part of the Alberto de Agostini National Park.

After our hike, we will enjoy a picnic lunch featuring sandwiches, nuts, and a choice of tea or coffee.

Our return journey will see us navigating back to Punta Arbol by boat, followed by our drive back to Punta Arenas. Expect to arrive at your hotel approximately 12 hours after our beginning.
