Calakmul + Balamkú Adventure

Your adventure begins promptly at 5 am with a pick-up from your hotel in San Francisco de Campeche. We will set out towards the Yucatán Peninsula to explore two remarkable archaeological sites from the Mayan era. Our first destination is Calakmul, situated approximately four and a half hours away.

En route, we will pause for a substantial breakfast, featuring two sandwiches, juice, yogurt, and fruit to energize us for the day ahead. After refueling, we will proceed to our first archaeological highlight: Calakmul, a pivotal political center during the pre-Columbian civilization.

Upon arrival at this World Heritage Site, we will embark on a guided exploration of the Calakmul ruins. Visitors can marvel at the majestic tiered temples known as Structure I and II, along with the remnants of an ancient ball game court, a beloved pastime among the Mayans.

After soaking in the history of Calakmul, we shall continue our journey through the Yucatán to Balamkú. This ancient settlement captivates visitors with its stunning temple decorations. Many structures are adorned with remarkable stucco friezes, featuring lithographic engravings that showcase exquisite craftsmanship.

Following our exploration of the archaeological site, we will enjoy a delightful lunch at the Puerta Calakmul restaurant, where a traditional Mexican dish awaits. You can choose between regional chicken specialties or savory fajitas.

After our satisfying meal, we will make our way back to your hotel in Campeche, arriving by 8 pm.
