Caminito del Rey Day Trip
Description
Embark on a day trip to discover the Caminito del Rey, a stunning natural attraction nestled in the heart of the province of Malaga. Experience the breathtaking charm of this gorge and let its beauty captivate you!
Day Trip Overview
We'll convene at the designated meeting point in the city of Malaga at the specified hour. From there, our journey will lead us towards one of the province's most striking gorges. Prepare to immerse yourself in the scenic wonders of the Caminito del Rey.
As we travel, we'll traverse the Alcaparaín mountain range, offering views of lush orange groves and charming Andalusian white villages. A 30-minute break will be made in the village of Ardales, allowing you the opportunity to relax or enjoy a snack—what a delightful way to begin your adventure!
Following this pause, we will set out on our hike along the Caminito del Rey, starting from the northern access in Ardales. The hike, lasting between 2.5 and 3 hours, will lead us across an extraordinary footbridge—did you know it was inaugurated by King Alfonso XIII in 1925? Along the way, we'll admire the stunning Guadalhorce reservoir and descend the renowned staircase of the Caminito del Rey.
Additionally, we will gradually unveil the fascinating geology, wildlife, and dramatic landscapes that envelop us. The footbridge hangs almost 105 m (344 ft) above the Gaitanes Gorge, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Sierra de Málaga. Don’t forget to capture this moment with a photo! We'll make stops at key viewpoints to take pictures and share intriguing insights about the area.
After savoring the experiences at the Caminito del Rey, we’ll bid farewell to this magnificent site and begin our return to the departure point, wrapping up our day trip which lasts between 7 and 8 hours in total.
