Carcassonne Castle & Ramparts Tickets
Description
The fortress and its surrounding walls in Carcassonne rank among the most remarkably preserved medieval strongholds across Europe. Engage with its intriguing past by securing your admission.
Reasons to Explore Carcassonne Castle
The iconic and seemingly indestructible fortress of Carcassonne witnessed intense battles as the French and Aragonese fought for dominion over this vital region during the Middle Ages.
Your admission grants access to the historical Romanesque Chapel of the Bastion, the Machicolations—defensive structures designed to release projectiles on adversaries—and the Barbican, an elevated entry point overlooking the moat.
This ticket also permits exploration of the ramparts of the citadel. You can meander at your leisure along the fortified periphery of this medieval town, discovering various towers and battlements. The vantage points offer remarkable panoramas of the Aude river valley.
A glimpse from the ramparts provides an excellent view of the charming historical center of Carcassonne, highlighted by the graceful Saint-Nazaire basilica and the impressive Narbonne Gate.
