Pisa Cathedral, Baptistery & Leaning Tower Tour Itinerary

Commencing your experience, you'll gather with your guide beneath the Porta Nuova archway and step into the renowned Piazza dei Miracoli, a key architectural ensemble in Tuscany. As you walk alongside the historical structures of the Camposanto, also known as the monumental cemetery, you’ll begin unraveling the stories of this significant site.

Your first stop is the Pisa Cathedral, or Duomo. Within its walls, you will delve into its construction history, tracing back to the 11th century, while admiring the various art pieces displayed in the central nave. Prepare to be awestruck by the magnificent mosaics, striking apse paintings, intricate frescoes, marble sculptures, and the grand pulpit.

Once the Duomo has been explored, you will proceed on a guided tour of the stunning Baptistery, which is dedicated to St. John the Baptist and, alongside other significant landmarks in Piazza dei Miracoli, is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Notably, it is the largest Catholic baptistery worldwide, which is impressive in size!

The tour concludes after approximately 1.5 to 2 hours in front of the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the most iconic monument of the city and a top photographic destination in Italy. While admiring its remarkable structure, your guide will unveil the enigmas surrounding this bell tower. Why does it lean? What connection does it have with Galileo? If you choose the option to include climbing the Leaning Tower, you will receive tickets to the Museo delle Sinopie and the Museo Opera del Duomo. These tickets will be provided at the end of the tour, allowing you the chance to explore these sites at your own pace.

Climb the Leaning Tower of Pisa

Upon making your reservation, consider including the option to ascend the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Following the guided tour, we will dedicate an additional hour to reach the summit of this famous bell tower, which serves as a symbol of Pisa, and take in the breathtaking views it offers of the cityscape.

For those wishing to climb, please be aware that you must select this option at booking. Failing to do so will result in the climb being omitted from the visit.

Additionally, plan for at least 1 extra hour for storing personal items and completing the tour prior to climbing the tower.

Children Under 8

Due to safety regulations, children younger than 8 years of age are not permitted to ascend the Leaning Tower.

Visit to the Baptistery

It is important to note that access to the Baptistery may be restricted during baptism ceremonies or renovation works. In such instances, we will substitute the visit with a tour of the Monumental Cemetery of Pisa.
