Details of the Day Trip

We will pick you up at the specified meeting location and embark on a journey east to one of the most stunning locations in Asturias: Covadonga. This enchanting destination will be accessed via a minibus, accommodating a maximum of 8 participants, allowing for a more intimate experience.

Your adventure begins at Lago Ercina, situated in the scenic Picos de Europa National Park. Our smaller vehicle enables us to get closer to the lakes without extensive walking. From the Entrelagos viewpoint, you'll be able to appreciate the breathtaking scenery of the lakes of Covadonga and the majestic alpine vistas that surround them.

Next, we will visit the Holy Cave of Covadonga, home to the revered figure of La Santina and the remains of Don Pelayo, the inaugural monarch of the Asturian kingdom. The stunning surroundings of this site will leave you in awe!

After exploring the history behind the cave and understanding the significant events that have unfolded within its walls, along with the profound importance of the Virgin of Covadonga for the people of Asturias, we will continue to the Basilica of Santa María la Real in Covadonga, a remarkable example of neo-Romanesque architecture found in Spain.

To conclude this excursion for our small group, we will proceed to Cangas de Onís. There, you will have the chance to see the iconic Roman bridge, followed by approximately 1 hour of free time to discover the area at your leisure or enjoy a meal, if desired.

At the end of the day, we will return to our starting point, with an expected arrival time ranging between 7 and 8 hours after our departure.
