Details of the Day Trip

Your adventure begins at the arranged meeting point, where our team will pick you up and we will set off towards one of Asturias' most picturesque locations: Covadonga. Traveling in a small group of no more than 8 people, we will journey to this emblematic site of the Principality of Asturias via minibus.

Our first stop will be Ercina Lake, nestled within the Picos de Europa National Park. Thanks to our smaller vehicle, we can approach the lakes more closely without the need for extended walks. From the Entrelagos viewpoint, you will have the opportunity to take in the breathtaking scenery that encompasses the celebrated lakes of Covadonga and the surrounding alpine terrain.

Next, we will continue to the Holy Cave of Covadonga, home to the sacred figure of La Santina and the remains of Don Pelayo, the inaugural monarch of the Asturian kingdom. The stunning location of this cave is sure to leave a lasting impression!

After delving into the cave's history, as well as the significant events tied to it and the deep-rooted devotion to the Virgin of Covadonga among the Asturians, we will proceed to the Basilica of Santa María la Real in Covadonga, a prime example of neo-Romanesque architecture found in Spain.

As we conclude this small-group experience, we will make our way to Cangas de Onís. Here, you'll have time to visit the renowned Roman bridge and enjoy approximately 1 hour of free time to explore and perhaps indulge in some lunch.

Our day will come to a close with our return to the starting location, expected after roughly 7 to 8 hours of exploration.

• Gijón: pickup at 9 am at Gijón Train Station (C. Sanz Crespo, s/n)
• Oviedo: pickup at 9:30 am at Plaza de los Ferroviarios (in front of Hotel AC Oviedo Forum)
