Embark on an insightful journey through Seoul, featuring highlights such as Seodaemun Prison, Dilkusha House, and Tapgol Park. This tour offers a unique glimpse into pivotal moments in South Korea's history.
Tour Details
If you are passionate about history, join us as we gather at exit 5 of the Dongnimmun Station to initiate our exploration of Seoul. Throughout this excursion, attendees will delve into the profound effects of colonialism and witness how the nation has evolved through contemporary times.
Our first stop will be the Saedaemun Prison, an essential site for understanding the struggle for Korean independence. Constructed during Japanese colonial rule, this facility incarcerated countless anti-colonial figures and had a capacity for up to 500 inmates. Here, we will traverse its somber cells and corridors, uncovering significant historical narratives.
Next, we will proceed to the Dongnimmun Arch, commonly referred to as the Independence Gate. Be sure to capture this iconic monument in a photograph!
After exploring its historical significance, we will head to Dilkusha, the former residence of Albert Taylor, an American journalist instrumental in the movement for South Korean independence. This location has transformed into a symbol of perseverance and global collaboration, and we will share the story behind it.
Our journey continues as we take the metro to Tapgol Park, where the initial shouts for independence emerged in 1919, igniting a nationwide uprising that ultimately brought freedom to South Korea.
Concluding our time together, this engaging tour will wrap up at Tapgol Park after a total duration of 3.5 hours.
