Diving in Sunken Boats in Baru

Embark on an adventure and immerse yourself in the captivating underwater world at the bottom of the Baru peninsula, where remnants of boats await your exploration. This will be a memorable journey!

Diving Information

At the scheduled time, we will collect you from your hotel in Bocagrande or the chosen meeting point in Cartagena de Indias. Our journey begins with a one-hour minibus ride to the Baru peninsula.

Upon arrival, we will board a boat that will take us across the pristine waters of the Caribbean Sea towards the Los Velázques aquatic park.

If you're new to diving, there’s no need to be apprehensive. Before we take our first plunge, a brief training session will introduce you to essential techniques in calm waters. Following this, we will set out to discover the AC Quindio vessel, a ship that was sunk by the Colombian navy in 2005.

Equipped with our diving gear, we will descend into the water to investigate the wreckage. You'll have the opportunity to swim through the ship and explore its different sections. When it's time to surface, as indicated by the pressure gauge, we will return. Each dive will typically last around 30 minutes.

After your dive, you can enjoy 3 hours of leisure time to unwind. The activity will wrap up at your hotel in Cartagena after approximately 9 hours.

During the reservation process, you will have the option to select between different packages. Below are the details of each choice:

Available Tour Options

• Single dive + Lunch: Experience a single dive lasting 30 minutes, followed by a traditional meal featuring options such as fresh fish, chicken, or a vegetarian dish. After dining, enjoy some leisure time at the beach club in Baru—a perfect chance to relax on deck chairs!
• 2 dives + Lunch: Opt for the most comprehensive package! This includes 2 dives of 30 minutes each, as well as lunch at the beach club, and additional free time to relax afterward.

Ccertified Divers

If you possess an international diving certification, please bring it along on the diving day. Divers without a certificate will remain at the surface instead of exploring the sunken vessel.

Kids aged 3 to 12 will need a PADI certification to participate. If they do not have one, they will be engaged in a less challenging diving experience.

Pickup Locations

The tour includes pickups solely from locations within the Bocagrande and Laguito areas. Guests staying outside these regions are required to reach Muelle de Los Pegasos, situated in Cartagena’s historic center, independently.
