Douro River Cruise to Porto
Description
Immerse yourself in the stunning landscapes of northern Portugal on this Douro River cruise. Start your journey in Peso da Régua, savoring a delicious onboard lunch as we make our way to Porto. For the return trip, we will travel by either train or bus.
Tour Overview
Our tranquil Douro River cruise departs from the harbor in Peso da Régua at the designated time.
As we glide through this picturesque region of northern Portugal, take in the stunning green vistas adorned with terraced vineyards from the panoramic deck. The area's climate perfectly supports viticulture, contributing to the production of the renowned Port wines.
During our journey, we will pass noteworthy sights in the Douro Valley, which include the Carrapatelo and Crestuma–Lever Dams. At the midpoint of our voyage, we will serve you a delightful lunch onboard, showcasing a variety of Portuguese culinary specialties—an excellent chance to sample local dishes and wines!
After approximately six hours of cruising along the Douro River, we will arrive in Porto, where you will have around 1.5 hours of free time to discover the city at your own pace. We suggest strolling through the Ribeira area to see the iconic Dom Luís I Bridge. The historic center is also worth exploring, with highlights including the cathedral and the Torre dos Clérigos.
We will reconvene in central Porto to make our way to the station, where a train ride of about two hours will take us back to Peso da Régua, concluding this comprehensive 10.5-hour experience.
