Tour Alternatives
During the booking process, you can select between two exciting tour options. Each package includes an English-speaking guide, mountain bike hire, and safety gear. Here is a brief overview of what each tour entails:
Andes Crossing Tour (7 Hours)
After hotel pickup, we'll head toward the outskirts of Ushuaia where the first segment of our bike journey will commence next to the former sawmill by Lake Escondido.
Once we are comfortable on the bikes, we'll set off ascending the Andes Mountains of Southern Patagonia, climbing a total of 450 metres above sea level!
We'll navigate along Route Nº3, passing by the renowned Paso Garibaldi Viewpoint, which offers breathtaking vistas of both Lago Escondido and Lago Fagnano.
Following this, we will descend through the Garibaldi Pass to tackle some flatter terrain, enhancing the enjoyment of our ride.
After covering 23 kilometres (14 miles), we'll take a break to recharge at a mountain restaurant where we'll savor some local cuisine. With our appetites satisfied, we will board our minibus for the return journey to the hotels at the end of this enriching 7-hour experience.
Estancia Tunnel Tour (6 Hours)
We will begin our adventure by gathering on Avenida San Martín de Ushuaia, where we will pick up our bikes and embark on a ride towards the Estancia Tunnel.
Initially, we will cycle approximately 10 kilometres (6 miles) to the Playa Larga Nature Reserve. From there, we will follow a coastal path towards the Estancia Tunnel, enjoying incredible panoramic views along the way!
Continuing our journey, we will ride past the Cerro Fique, where the tropical Fuegino forest meets the stunning backdrop of the Beagle Channel. We will make a stop at a viewpoint to take in the landscape, with a chance to spot magnificent condors or red foxes if we are fortunate.
Upon arriving at the Estancia Tunnel, we will pause for approximately 20 minutes to delve into the region's historical significance, particularly its livestock farming and sawmill heritage. Enjoying a delightful picnic-style lunch will add to the experience.
After our break, we will remount our bikes for the return trip, completing the journey with a total of 6 hours and 25 kilometres (15 miles) of cycling.
