Tour of San Juan Gorges and Dams

Your adventure begins with a hotel pickup in San Juan at 2 pm, followed by a trip to the Zonda ravine. This remarkable narrow gorge is bordered by the Marquesado and Chica de Zonda mountain ranges, offering a picturesque landscape.

Next, we will proceed to the Punta Negra dam viewpoint. This significant hydroelectric dam ranks among the key civil engineering feats in western Argentina. Established in 2015 under the leadership of then-president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, it supplies water to hundreds of thousands. The impressive scale of this reservoir is particularly noteworthy.

From there, the path leads us to the Los Caracoles dam, another grand structure. When filled to capacity, it holds 565 cubic hectometers of water, which translates to the staggering total of 56,500,000,000 liters or enough to fill thousands of Olympic swimming pools!

Before concluding our tour and heading back to San Juan, we will stop at the Ullum Dam observation deck, ideally situated at the edge of the Ullum ravine. As we take in the breathtaking scenery, you will receive insights into the technical features of the hydroelectric plant, which generates a capacity of 41 megawatts.

We will round off the tour with a return trip back to your hotel in San Juan, with an expected arrival time of around 6 pm.
