Private Tour of Khiva
Your adventure begins at the agreed time at your accommodation in Khiva, where we will set off to explore the ancient seat of the Chorasmia region.
The journey starts with a stroll to the Itchan Kala district, encircled by towering stone walls that reach up to 12 meters high (approximately 40 ft). In this area, you'll have the opportunity to appreciate outstanding examples of Central Asian architectural styles, including historical mosques, mausoleums, and madrasahs, while discovering the fascinating story behind this Uzbek urban gem.
Following this, we will proceed to the remarkable Mohammed Amin Khan Madrasa along with its minaret, which stands as the tallest structure in Khiva and throughout Central Asia. A visit to the 19th-century Mohammed Rahimkhan Madrasa will also be included, offering insights into the lives of these notable figures in Khivan history.
Our exploration continues through Itchan Kala, leading us to the Kunya Arch and the 18th-century Juma Mosque, the principal mosque in Khiva. From there, we will move on to the exquisite Tash-Khovli Palace, characterized by its stunning blue and white majolica adornments.
As we navigate through the site, we’ll pause at the Khan's Harem, where the light beige adobe brick exterior enchants visitors. The intricately carved wooden latticework provides an intriguing glimpse into the domestic life of the past. Surrounding this architectural beauty, the blue minarets and domes offer a breathtaking contrast to the skyline.
Our tour wraps up at the historic Ollaqulikhan Caravanserai, an age-old haven for merchants and travelers traversing the Silk Road. This two-story structure, designed around a spacious courtyard, evokes the vibrant hustle and bustle of caravans transporting carpets, spices, and ceramics.
The walking tour will come to a close, lasting between 5 and 6 hours in total.
