Beijing Hutongs Tour

During this exploration of Beijing's hutongs, we will navigate the slender pathways that form the historic quarter of the Chinese capital. Get ready to uncover its traditional essence.

Tour Overview

We will gather at Exit I of the Qianmen subway station at the designated time, then proceed along this vibrant shopping thoroughfare, an ideal setting to immerse ourselves in the narrative of Beijing. 

As we make our way, the mysteries of the city’s narrow streets will slowly unfold before us. Our first destination will be Xianyukou, famously known as “fresh fish street.” This location is popular for sampling street food and gaining insights into the culinary heritage of Beijing. 

Following that, we will transition to one of the city's most contemporary areas, Sanlihe Hutong, where we will observe the transformation of these lanes through the ages, moving from tradition to a thriving commercial and residential hub. 

Next, we'll travel back to the core of Beijing to wander through Dashilan Hutong, celebrated for its extensive history, having stood for over 500 years. This area is one of the prime spots to experience the most authentic culture of the Chinese capital, with the architectural styles from the Ming and Qing dynasties superbly preserved!

Our final destination will be Fangjia Hutong, where we will stroll down this passage to enjoy the juxtaposition of ancient and contemporary Beijing, featuring stylish bars, enticing restaurants, unique hostels, themed shops, and street vendors. Here, typical gray houses will be complemented by ancient trees, serving as a living testament to the traditional architecture of Beijing.

At the end of this journey, we will conclude after a leisurely 2.5-hour exploration.
