Hiking in San Lorenzo
Description
Escape the daily grind by embarking on a hiking adventure in San Lorenzo, where you'll be captivated by stunning vistas of Salta, the foothills of the Andes, and the Lerma Valley.
Hiking in San Lorenzo
Upon booking, you can choose between a 3-hour or a 7-hour route. In both scenarios, we will convene at your preferred time on Calle Juan Carlos Dávalos.
3-Hour Route
Our journey will commence as we stroll through the charming colonial town of San Lorenzo and venture towards its outskirts. Upon arrival, we will encounter the ravine sharing the same name. From this point, we will navigate along the picturesque paths that follow the San Lorenzo River.
While tracing the river's path, we will ascend several inclines that guide us to various scenic viewpoints. Here, you will be delighted by exceptional panoramic views of Salta, mere miles from the provincial capital.
On our way, we will also have the opportunity to delve into a distinctive biome: the renowned yungas of San Lorenzo. This Andean forest showcases not only its beauty but also a variety of native species such as cockspur coral trees, walnut trees, myrtles, and alders.
Reaching the highest elevation of our trek, at 5,900 feet (1,800 meters) above sea level, you will be astounded by the breathtaking scenery. To the south lies the expansive Lerma Valley, while to the north and west, the majestic Andean foothills stretch before you.
After enjoying the views, we will take a different route back to our starting point, concluding our 3-hour hike with farewells.
Schedule: available daily at 10 am and 3 pm.
7-Hour Route
This option presents a high-difficulty trek spanning 12 miles (19 kilometers) and ascending to a height of 7,870 feet (2,400 meters) above sea level.
Starting off, we will climb through the trails of the San Lorenzo ravine, leading us to the Eastern Cordillera. Along our ascent, we will encounter a variety of trees typical of the Selva Montana, including cockspur coral trees, walnut trees, laurels, and cedars.
Add to that the sight of lush ferns and an array of epiphytes and climbing plants, which define this unique biome. Throughout our hike, you will also appreciate remarkable views of the Lerma Valley and the Eastern Cordillera.
