Hôtel de la Marine Permanent Collection Tickets
Description
Gain entry to the Hôtel de la Marine, an 18th-century palace situated in the central Place de la Concorde in Paris, historically significant as the headquarters of the French Navy.
Description
The Hôtel de la Marine, positioned in the heart of Place de la Concorde, stands out as a remarkable example of 18th-century architectural brilliance in Paris.
Your ticket includes access to both the permanent collection and the “Express” collection, which encompasses the luxurious quartermasters’ apartments alongside the historic salons and loggia. With the aid of an English audio guide, you will first explore these lavishly adorned apartments featuring exquisite chandeliers, drapes, and carpets reflective of the Louis XV era.
As you traverse the lounges and loggia, be prepared to be awed by their stunning decor. Throughout the audio-guided experience, you'll uncover the fascinating history of the Hôtel de la Marine, which was initially established to serve as the Garde-Meuble de la Couronne. Following the French Revolution of 1789, the structure transitioned to become the French Navy’s main headquarters.
The Ministry of the Navy relocated to another site in 2015, leading to significant renovations of the Hôtel de la Marine, which opened its doors to the public in 2021. Your ticket grants you access to experience the elegant restoration of this illustrious palace designed by Ange-Jacques Gabriel, a principal architect under Louis XV of France.
The detailed audio tour of the apartments encompasses approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.
