Description

Experience a delightful day in the renowned wineries of Hunter Valley through this wine expedition commencing in Newcastle, Australia. Enjoy a deep dive into the region’s unique flavors, exploring both prestigious vineyards with age-old vines and intimate family-operated wineries.

Hunter Valley Wine Experience

At the scheduled time, we will collect you from your lodge in Newcastle and embark on our trip to Hunter Valley. Are you eager to uncover the best vineyards in this iconic Australian region?

Our adventure kicks off at the Audrey Wilkinson Vineyard, perched on a hillside in the Brokenback Mountain Ranges. Here, we will revel in breathtaking panoramic views while indulging in a 45-minute premium seated wine tasting. We will also take time to explore the winemaking museum, located in the original winery, which displays the family’s history, including heritage-awarded open cement vats and an array of winemaking tools and equipment.

Following this, we will head to Small Mouth Vodka, where we will indulge in 8 tastings of flavored vodkas, gins, and liqueurs. Craft-produced and devoid of preservatives and artificial components, Small Mouth Vodka promises robust flavors with a smooth finish.

Next up is RidgeView Estate, a dedicated family-owned winery celebrated for its award-winning wines. This vineyard is the result of a dream to create limited batches of estate and locally sourced wines that reflect the spirit of this esteemed winemaking region. In the tasting room, you’ll discover why RidgeView has achieved a 5-star Halliday rating with its elegant Chardonnays, rich Shirazes, and vibrant Semillons.

After generating some appetite, we will stop at 4 Pines at The Farm. This expansive venue features a 600-square-metre (6,458-square-foot) taproom, bistro, and cellar door, all showcasing magnificent views of the Hunter Valley. You will have free time to select a lunch option, whether enjoying a beer at the 12-tap bar or sipping a Semillon on the patio while dining outdoors under the pavilion that overlooks the vineyards—the choice is yours!

Our exploration then leads us to Saltire Estate, which commemorates the contributions of James Busby, the Scotsman recognized as the father of Australian wine. With vines propagated from cuttings Busby brought from Europe, this rustic winery provides an extraordinary tasting experience. As we enjoy their wines, we will take in the stunning vistas that surround us.

As the day winds down, our concluding stop will be at Binnorie Dairy. At their tasting bar, expert cheesemakers will guide us through a delightful assortment of their cow and goat milk cheeses. We will relish the rich, nuanced flavors that have made Binnorie Dairy a beloved choice among cheese aficionados throughout Australia.

At the end of a remarkable 8 to 10 hours, we will return you to your accommodation in Newcastle. Until we meet again!
