Horse Riding in the Indigenous Communities of Chiapas

Activity Details

At the scheduled time, we will gather at number 15 on calle 5 de Febrero. From there, a vehicle will transport us to the outskirts of San Cristóbal de las Casas, directing us to the farm that houses the horses. Upon arrival at the stables, we will mount our horses and embark on our journey to explore the indigenous landscapes.

As we venture away from the urban area, we will pass through several mestizo neighborhoods, each exhibiting unique traditions. Did you know that the local populations include the Tzotzil, Tzeltal, and Chol tribes? After approximately one hour in the saddle, we will arrive in San Juan Chamula.

This charming municipality is one of the rare places that continue to uphold Mayan traditions. Once we dismount, you'll have an hour of leisure time to wander through this town, where the indigenous people still refer to the sun and moon as jhotik and jmetil, respectively.

After your exploration, we will mount our horses once more and journey back to San Cristóbal de las Casas.
