Izta-Popo Zoquiapan National Park Hike
Description
Immerse yourself in a captivating terrain while uncovering the ancient stories of its native inhabitants through this trekking experience in the Izta-Popo Zoquiapan National Park.
Hiking Experience in Izta-Popo Zoquiapan National Park
Your adventure commences with a pickup from your accommodation in Puebla, followed by a drive towards the stunning Izta-Popo Zoquiapan National Park.
We will initiate our hike at Paso de Cortés, a scenic mountain pass situated between the towering Iztaccíhuatl and Popocatépetl volcanoes. This journey involves a 3- to 4-hour trek of moderate intensity, spanning around 14 km and featuring an elevation ascent of 400 m to reach La Joya, which stands at 3,900 m above sea level.
En route, we’ll pause to savor a delightful quesadilla accompanied by a warm beverage. After this refreshment, we’ll continue our trek, where you may spot local fauna including coyotes, badgers, lizards, and deer nestled within the coniferous forests. If you're inclined towards mycology, keep an eye out for the multitude of fungal species that inhabit the park. This venture promises to be a memorable experience!
Upon completing a full 4 hours of hiking and discovery, we’ll return to the parking area and head back to your hotel in Puebla, concluding our journey approximately 7 hours after the initial pickup.
