Killary Fjord Kayak Tour
Description
Killary Fjord Kayak Adventure
For those who appreciate the beauty of the outdoors, the kayak expedition through Killary Fjord presents a remarkable opportunity. This enchanting journey allows you to navigate through the stunning fjord, while enjoying breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain ranges of Connemara.
Our day begins promptly at 9:15 am at the Leenaun Delphi Resort, where we will equip ourselves with all necessary gear for the upcoming three-hour kayaking experience.
Paddling through the picturesque Killary Fjord, which stretches 10 miles (16 kilometers) in length, you’ll discover it serves as a natural divide between the counties of Galway and Mayo. This unique waterway seamlessly connects the mountains of Connemara County to the Atlantic Ocean, reaching depths of nearly 150 feet (45 meters) in certain areas.
Be on the lookout for the majestic Mweelrea Mountain, the tallest peak in Connacht, as well as the striking Maumturks Mountains known for their rugged quartzite summits, and the renowned Twelve Bens mountain range.
This saline fjord is rich in biodiversity, and it’s not uncommon to encounter otters, ducks, plovers, and even dolphins during our voyage.
As our kayaking adventure concludes, we will make our way back to the meeting point by 12:15 pm, marking the end of this memorable experience.
