Lake Titicaca 2-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Juliaca - Uros Islands - Amantani

Your journey begins with a pick-up from your hotel in Juliaca between 5:15 am and 6:30 am, followed by a minibus ride to Puno, where you will switch to a boat that will navigate the waters of Lake Titicaca.

The first stop will be at two of the Uros islands, which are unique floating islets crafted from aquatic vegetation. Here, you will learn about the local beliefs and lifestyle. Did you know the term Uros translates to 'water people'? Prepare to discover this and a wealth of other fascinating insights.

Continuing our boat journey, we will arrive at Amantani Island, the largest island on the Peruvian side of the lake. After settling in and dropping off your luggage, you'll enjoy lunch with a local family, experiencing a taste of the Quechua culture. The meal features two courses accompanied by a soft drink.

Once refreshed, we will embark on a one-hour hike to the prominent hills of Pachamama or Pachatata. This trek offers an opportunity to uncover historical details about Amantani, which has been inhabited since before the Inca civilization, and provide ample chances for capturing stunning photographs of the island's agricultural terraces. You’ll also visit sacred temples perched upon these hills while being treated to a breathtaking sunset.

After a satisfying dinner, you'll rest in the welcoming home of a local family until the next day.

Day 2: Amantani - Taquile - Juliaca

Good morning! After enjoying breakfast consisting of coffee or tea, fruits, and bread, we will bid farewell to our island hosts and prepare to depart on a boat at 8:00 am, bound for Taquile Island, located in Lake Titicaca.

We'll allocate four hours to explore Taquile. Highlights include a visit to the handicraft market, where you’ll gain insights into the renowned textile art handmade by the island’s men. You can also walk along pathways that lead to stunning viewpoints—it's a sight to behold!

Before heading back to the boat, we will savor a delicious lunch complete with two courses and a soft drink. Once re-energized, it will be time to take our leave.

Your excursion will conclude at around 4 pm upon returning to your hotel in Juliaca.

Accommodation

This tour encompasses one night of accommodation in a traditional home stay with a local family on Amantani Island. During your visit, you will also enjoy two lunch meals, one dinner, and one breakfast.

Ending the Tour in Puno

If you prefer to conclude your journey in Puno instead of returning to Juliaca, we can make arrangements to drop you off at a central location or your chosen hotel.
